March is Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS) month. Simply put, people who have this rare (TP53) genetic mutation have a 70%-100% lifetime risk of developing cancer. Many are children. In my family, seven of us who have been tested, have the mutation. My maternal Grandmother and Sister died from the disease. Costly screening is the best tool available to stay a few steps ahead of cancer. Many, many do not have the privilege of decent health care.
